As a result of joint work of several public services, such as service of the Ministry of internal Affairs for immigration and customs enforcement (HSI), United States secret service (USSS), the postal inspection Service of the United States (USPIS) and the Administration for drug control (DEA), identified numerous vendors of illegal goods that led to the discovery of more than 90 active cases throughout the country.
«Criminals who think they can freely carry out illegal activities on the darknet, mistaken», — said Deputy attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein (Rod J. Rosenstein). «We can expose their networks, and we are determined to bring them to justice. Today, we have arrested more than 35 prospective suppliers of illicit goods on the darknet. We seized weapons and drugs for 23.6 million dollars. These national efforts would reduce the supply of deadly drugs, such as fentanyl, which kill a huge number of Americans. I want to thank our Federal prosecutors and Federal DEA agents, investigators from homeland security, the postal inspection service and Secret service for their outstanding work.»
«Darknet is constantly changing and becoming more complex, making it difficult to identify and capture those involved in illegal activities in the virtual space. But in this case, HSI special agents were able to find someone who sells hard drugs,» said acting Executive Director of HSI Derek Benner (Benner Derek). «The veil is lifted. HSI infiltrated the darknet and, together with law enforcement agencies across the country, it has again proven that every criminal is within the reach of the law».
«The secret service is proud to be fighting with one of the largest threats to the financial infrastructure of the United States, money laundering using virtual currencies,» said assistant Director of the U.S. secret service Kenneth Jenkins (Kenneth Jenkins). «The secret service continues to adapt to the new conditions in the field of cybercrime, to maintain our level of success in eliminating this threat.»
