Singapore Airlines launched the world’s first loyalty program on the blockchain

July 24, Singapore Airlines has announced the launch of the loyalty program, KrisFlyer, is based on the technology of the blockchain. Now customers of Singapore Airlines will have the opportunity to convert bonus miles to units of account and continue to use them trading partners of the airline.

In order to join the loyalty program, customers of Singapore Airlines need to enroll in KrisFlyer and install on your phone a digital wallet KrisPay developed by KPMG Digital Village in partnership with Microsoft. KrisPay is already available for download in Apple Store and Google Play Store.

Commenting on the launch, head of Singapore Airlines, Goh Choon Phong (Goh Choon Phong) said:

«We are pleased to introduce KrisPay – innovative method by which KrisFlyer members will be able at any time to access their accumulated miles by using your fingerprint. Digital wallet KrisPay integrates the ability to use miles in everyday life, enabling all participants of the bonus program instantly use the existing miles in daily transactions.»

According to the representative of airline, to date, the program involved 18 partners in Singapore, including restaurants, beauty salons, grocery stores, and gas stations. It is expected that in the near future the program will be available to the company. Singapore Airlines reports that the first customers will receive additional discounts.

Today KrisFlyer is the world’s first loyalty program, built on the technology of the blockchain.
